The Force 5 was designed in 1972 by Fred Scott and Jack Evans of AMF Alcort fame.  By 1974 it was their second best selling boat and one of the fastest growing one design fleets in the nation.  It was designed to be a sleek, fast hull that was a step up from AMF’s simpler boats.

The Force 5 had sophisticated sail controls and a high performance hull and rig.  The dream of its designers came true.  Over 12,000 boats were built up until 1989 when AMF Alcort changed hands several times in a short period of time.
In the autumn of 1993, a company located on Long Island’s famed Great South Bay began building new Force 5’s again.  Weeks Yacht Yard, boatbuilders since 1898, became the new builders of Force 5 sailboats.
